Silver medal

Awarded: Silver

Manufacturer(s): Revell

Description: This is the Revell Challenger I built OOTB with a few exceptions. I added the canvas covers on the stowage boxes on the sides of the turret and I also did the tarp hanging on the side of the vehicle from tissue-paper. Painted with Vallejo Acrylics and weathered with Vallejo Acrylics.

No in-progress photo, but it looks like a good build. The basic paint finish is good and the shading nice, but as the Challenger is a plain looking vehicle, it could benefit from more variety in finish - e.g. more dust on the horizontal surfaces (especially as it is finished in a desert scheme).

Good clean build,no construction errors noticed. the paint is even & has good weathering although abit bland looking stains & streaks adding interest on the skirts & fuel tanks at rear the tracks look alittle crooked at the front. the tarps over the turret baskets look good & add abit more interest too. the rolled tarp looks alittle long on the ends & at the length they are could /would droop alot more. the aerial is in scale too. the decals are well applied & no film showing. The photo's could do with getting closer & views from the front & rear next time.

The paint work is very well done with nice contrast and variation, you’ve made a single colour paint scheme look interesting, this is always hard to do. The engine screens are excellent, a prominent feature of this tank and the covers for the stowage baskets are well done but the baskets themselves look un-basket like and solid. You could add more worn areas around the crew access areas and I can’t see the smaller wear and tear effects due to the photos not being well cropped, have a look at our photo guide for some tips. Overall the dusty desert feel comes across well and your tracks and running gear are spot on, you’ve done an excellent job on the main gun barrel too.
