Description: Its a WW2 SAS jeep as used in the North African desert campaign. I started out in sep 2005 with the academy 1/72 scale jeep from the WW2 ground vehicle set. I added details as described above. Figures were built up from hard plastic Esci british 8th army desert rats figures for the legs and copies of hasegawa's aircraft pilot and ground crew for the head and torso. The arms were sculpted from magicsculpt. Using an airbrush, I primed with surfacer, followed by a basecoat (preshade) of tamiya acrylics. I then brush painted vallejo model color paints for the details. I used oil paints for filters, wash and drybrushing. Final touches of pastels was applied to the lower half of the jeep to blend it with the groundwork. A final spray of dullcoat from a can and I called it a day - a little over 3 years from when I first started building the model.

The sheer effort and skill displayed in this tiny model are simply staggering! The added details and customisation of parts are very good, although one or two of the cans do look a little rough. The figures are lovely, but unfortunately they are outside the scope of the competition. The paintwork is equally well done. it's almost impossible to draw a distinction between basecoat and detail painting, so busy is this little model. The weathering too is excellent, with convincing chipping, rust spots, dust, grime and just about everything else. The only thing that I'm really unsure about is the positioning of the model on the base, but like the figures, that is outside our remit this month.

An excellent building, nothing to say. I love all building work very clean and precise. About painting is very good; generally, problem with so little models, is that is simple to cover model with an hard coat of paint... This work put in evidence a good skill in this phase. Personally I would have used also other colors for the loads to vary a little the monochromatic tone. Some of the chipp are quite out of scale but generally speaking, weathering is very good and very real. Although out of scope, figures are wonderful!!!

A very impressive build, with a dramatic and dynamic scene (although the base can't be judged this month). The construction is very good, with excellent detail, especially considering the size. The painting is also superb with good shading and weathering. Well done!
