Description: Due to the lack of appropriate tractor or complete team of horses, German troopers often employ a single horse for towing light guns such as le IG18 or Pak 35/36 and this is what I tried to depict. A gun surely requires not only tractor, but also crew and here it is the complete crew of a le IG18 (6 soldiers). The gun is in autumn and is operated by Waffen SS Panzer Grenadiers dressed in smocks painted in autum/winter ribbed edge and oak leaf patterns. The model was painted with Humbrol enamel and artistic oils, weathering added with Tamyia pigments and Humbrol.

The Pegasus IG18 is a lovely little model, the whole scene looks great with the Horse, grass ets, But especially the SS smock camo on the drew which is totally awesome. but the gun itself is a bit disappointing it just looks too caked in mud all over, so its lost all its features, there is a bit of drybrushing on top being a earlier model of the gun with the spoke wheels I would have gone for a single coat a gray & a lighter coating of mud just around the wheels, lower shirt to make more of a contrast (Its hard to see the difference between mud, base coat & camo). would like to have seen the wheels with the metal finish on the wheel rims like the one you did last month with the single horse cart. http://www.nbclub.net/attachments/leobbs/44/48/5_1128004515.jpg

This is a beautiful little scene; the camo on the soldiers is just superb. The gun itself has been well put together and although a simple little kit it has lots of detail. I really like what you do but there are a few areas you can work on that would really take your work to the next level. The paint work is too thick, this is a common problem with brush painting, I find that being patient and building up the colours with many thin layers gives almost airbrush like results. Contrast, when building models in this very small scale it is very important to create contrast. This can be achieved in many ways, a lighter base colour and darker camouflage, lighter highlights and darker shadows (pin wash and drybrush), dirty and clean areas, multi-coloured chips, polished steel (breach and hand wheels), gloss and matt areas (damp and dry mud) and probably the most effective is creating mud, dust and dirt of varying tones that contrast with the rest of the paint work. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seein your next one.

A very creative and rather eye-catching little vignette, the impressive overall effect is unfortunately somewhat let down by the gun itself. The build looks neat enough, but the paintwork and weathering are a little unconvincing. The gun looks to have been almost coated in clay and lacks wear at the controls and other moving parts. The metallic paint used on the sight looks plasticky and a better effect might be acheived with non-metallic paint and a rub of graphite.
