Kit(s) | M8 Greyhound |
This kit contains parts for upgrading the 1/72nd scale Italeri M8.
The kit comes in a small plastic bag, stapled on a piece of cardboard. Quite a few of the pieces was detached from their sprue, and one of the pieces is broken. I hope MR Modellbau will consider putting their kits in small hard plastic boxes, to protect the kit better. Also included is a piece of paper with a small description, a list of parts and 2 illustrations showing where the parts should be used on the M8.
The kit contains 17 pieces in light grey resin. The parts are: 6 new very detailed wheels, a new corrected turret, 4 hatches (2 sets), 3 bags (personal gear), 2 stowage boxes and snow chains. The snow chains should be mounted on the front of the vehicle, hanging from the head-lights. Some of the parts has a little flash, but I've not spotted any air-bubbles.
This is what I would call an exterior detail set for the M8. The parts of the kit are really nice and detailed, and it will certainly improve the "half bad" Italeri M8. With that said, I'm a bit disappointed with the kit. I would certainly have liked to pay a few extra bucks, to get some interior detail. When the kit includes the 4 hatches for the driver and co-driver, it makes you want to leave them opened. If you want to build a more correct and detailed M8, this kit is probably the best you can get for the price. I know of atleast one other manufacturer working on a M8 upgrade set, so let's see if that kit includes more interior detail. The parts are detailed and crisp, and the idea with the snow chains hanging from the head-lights, is brilliant. The instructions that comes with this kit are as detailed and precise as they should be. I recommend this kit for anybody wanting to detail the M8 a bit.
