Description
The Hummel (“Bumble Bee”) was originally produced as a German interim solution for a self-propelled gun platform. However, this howitzer that is mounted on a lengthened Pz.Kpfw. IV chassis, served throughout WWII after its introduction in early 1943 at the Battle of Kursk. In 1944 the Hummel was modified with an extended glacis plate that accommodated both the driver and radio operator – the earlier model only had a small extended compartment for the driver. Dragon Models’ new 1/72 Hummel model faithfully replicates all the features of this Late Model, and includes some completely new parts for the 15cm sFH18/1 L/70 gun and the vehicle’s gun compartment. This model even incorporates moving parts, with the gun capable of being traversed and elevated! Features - Newly tooled front superstructure, featuring the characteristics of the Hummel Late Type - Driver’s and radio operator’s hatches can be assembled in open/closed position - New sprocket wheel - New return roller (without rubber rim type) - Option of photo-etched or new-tooled plastic parts for hull-side air intake louver covers - 15cm howitzer gun with well-defined and crisp details - 15cm gun can traverse and elevate just like the real thing - Gun travel lock can be assembled in travel or combat modes - Road wheel hubs are separate pieces, allowing unparalleled crispness of details - One-piece return rollers are road wheels, saving frustrating assembly time - Dragon Styrene one-piece tracks - Cartograf decal offers markings for different vehicles Text is copyright by Dragon.
